The ad reads: Save your Money, Dentistry from Mexico is very inexpensive.

What do you get for your dollar in Mexico?

A local resident chose to go to Mexico and “save a bunch of money” on his dentistry.  Sadly, it’s never quite that simple.  It will take several posts to cover the treatment he received.

Case Overview

The patient stated, “my teeth were failing, smile looked horrid, everything hurt. I got estimates from ClearCorrect. It was 60,000 dollars. An estimate from Western Dental, it was 40,000 dollars. Still out of my range. So off to Mexico………… “

  • Implants should be parallel to each other and the teeth present.
  • The size of the implant should mimic the tooth it replaces.
  • Minimum distances must be maintained between implants.
  • Teeth with infections should be removed.
  • Areas without bone support are to be avoided.

Take a look at the x-ray above and you’ll note many if not all of these cryteria are being ignored.
