Implant Dentistry from Mexico
This is the second post about an implant case from Mexico.
Dental implants need to be parallel to the existing teeth, to each other, and perpendicular to the occlusal forces.

History: the patient was hit in the mouth when he was ten years old. Over the years the teeth were treated for many problems stemming from this trauma. Root canals were preformed, composite veneers were placed, the root canals were retreated. The teeth final failed after twelve years of service from external resorption. (This means the root surface was eaten away by the patient’s body.)
The teeth were removed and bone was placed in the sockets after a through removal of the tissue responsible for the resorption. The area was allowed to heal for 5 months using an acrylic temporary. The temp looked wonderful, better than the original teeth.

Notice how many different choices there are. The box on the right is full of dental implant options: three sizes, four lengths, and about 20 different sulcus formers. This doesn’t include the different options for the permanent abutment. |
