Implant Dentistry from Mexico
This is the second post about an implant case from Mexico.

Take a cursory look at the current case. What do you see. Many implants are in a good position, but a few bad apples………..

What do you get for your dollar in Mexico?
A local resident chose to go to Mexico and “save a bunch of money” on his dentistry. Sadly, it’s never quite that simple. It will take several posts to cover the treatment he received.
Case Overview
The patient stated, “my teeth were failing, smile looked horrid, everything hurt. I got estimates from ClearCorrect. It was 60,000 dollars. An estimate from Western Dental, it was 40,000 dollars. Still out of my range. So off to Mexico………… “
Fluoride Concentrations Change

To maintain the benefits of preventing tooth decay while preventing excessive exposure to fluoride the US dept of health and Human Services has proposed to replace the recommended range of 0.7 to 1.2 milligrams of fluoride per liter of water to the lower number of 0.7 milligrams. Americans today have greater exposure to fluoride in dental products and have a more sedentary lifestyle with air conditioning in hot climates. When the levels were originally set in 1962 this was not the case, when there would be higher water consumption in hot climates, hence a lower fluoride concentration, The agency announced the scientific assessment last September and asked for input and put out the release on January 7th 2011.

Most parents wonder when their children’s teeth should be coming in. Here’s a graphic of the schedule.
Please be aware of the large variation that occurs. Some kids will be ahead and others are two or three years behind. It’s like a box of chocolates. You never know for sure.
